Why are there no 3-bolt rails anymore?
Let’s discuss
We’ve provided this drawing to show just how minor a change was made.
From top to bottom
· 3-bolt side rails from the early 1970s to 1999—⅛” difference
· 3-bolt side rails from 1999 to 2009—Valley and Dynamo
· Valley 5-bolt side rails from 2009-present
Note that the innermost and center holes are UNCHANGED.
Just use only the bolt holes that matter to your table - we don’t recommend drilling more mounting holes in the table
Rather than build and stock entirely separate part numbers and inventories of 3-bolt and 5-bolt rails in three sizes and in Standard, League and Professional configurations because 4 of the 18 bolt holes moved exactly 1/8” , we have an easy and quick one-time modification.
To use the five-bolt rails on a table 1972-1999, just make the simple modification shown at the right to the four outermost side-rail bolt holes, those closest to the corner casting. Drill from the CUSHION RAIL side no deeper than 1 1/8”
Only these four holes.
